I had a chance to see Alexander at nextMedia 2009 in Banff earlier in the year where he gave the opening keynote address. You can check out my ScribbleLive powered live blog of the event [here] complete with spelling errors and other txt’ism.
Alexander is an inspiring speaker who presents his ideas in a style designed to draw the listener into the story of the thought. During his presentation, he examined the concept around changing a crowd into an audience, how technology cannot be monetized, only behaviour can.
My favourite moment was when he presented his seven elements of desire (sweet, smooth, shiny, soft, I don’t recall the others right now) and challenged us to imagine the industry that “sweet” inspires.
Well, Digital Alberta and the Calgary Chapter of the Canadian Marketing Association are bringing Manu to Calgary this coming January for New Years Evolution [Watch, Learn, Evolve]
Attend this event if you can, if only to meet up with other tech. industry folks and have a good night out.
